¹⁸ knowing that you were redeemed from your futile^[a] way-of-life handed-down-from-your-fathers not with perishable things, silver or gold, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without-blemish and without-spot; ²⁰ He having been foreknown before the foundation of the world but having appeared^[b] at the last of times for your sake,
